Baron's Drumkit Set-ups

"I love to play in the pocket, that's why I love Blues, Rock, Country and R&B so much. If you like drummers that groove, and play to make every note count, then I am your drummer!"

Slingerland Radio King drums in blue glass glitter - one of my favorite drumkits!

My Usual Equipment

    • 22" Kick
    • 13" or 14" snare with Slug "Snare Star" Batter Badge on coated head.
    • 13" rack tom
    • 16" floor tom (one each side when practical)
    • 14" Flat Jack (sometimes)
    • 14" Zildjian K/Z Hi-Hats
    • 18" Bosphorus crash ride + splash (sometimes)
    • 20" China
    • 20" Zildjian Amir Ride
    • 5A or 5B Trueline drumsticks with diamond grip
    • Slug Percussion Products

Whenever possible I play using an additional 16" floor tom on the left of my Hi-Hat, tuned lower than the floor tom on my right hand side. I also use a tambourine mounted on the Hi-Hat stand. Why? Because it lets me use my left hand more besides mainly on the snare. I work my left hand on the left side floor tom as well as on the tambourine for accenting back beats. I also can finish fills on the left floor tom and be right back at the Hi-Hat with ease. This set-up gives me more creative options for grooves and new patterns for fills, and, I also feel more balanced as I play. I love to hit both floor toms at the same time for really big, deep and thunderous notes! Sonically, the additional floor tom adds more resonance, warmth and depth to the overall sound of my drumkit too. And, I always use Slug Power Head beaters, Muffelts for over-tone control, and Batter Badge Vented Impact Pads on my drumheads!
